Nature-based Solutions
Description
Ecosystemics focuses its interests on effects and performances of nature-based solutions in the field of environmental and economic sustainability in (of) urban areas and building/urban design.
The research group is working on the FET Open H2020 project ECOLOPES ECOlogical building enveLOPES: a game-changing design approach for regenerating urban ecosystems, which focuses on transforming the envelope into an ecolope, a multi-species living space for four types of inhabitants, humans, plants, animals, and microbiota.
The group is also monitoring the performances of the UNALAB Pilot Project, Nature-based Solutions for ex Caserma Gavoglio, as sub-contractor of the Municipality of Genoa (partner of the H2020 UNALAB project). The project CCM (Italian national center for diseases control and prevention) CLIMACTIONS aims at identifying effective NBS to improve human health in the city of Genoa. After working on the design of Proterina Rain Garden (Genoa, Italy, as part of the Interreg Proterina 3 Evolution), the group is monitoring its performances in terms of filtration and infiltration of rainwater. The group evaluated the positive effects of vertical greening systems, monitoring of the performances of INPS green façade (Genoa) with regard to environmental quality and energy performances of the building envelope.
Ecosystemics is developping, thanks to a PoC funding by LINKS, LIFTT and San Paolo, the patented LIGHT BUILDING SYSTEMS WITH MOSSES, a low cost and low mainteinance green façade/roof system.
