Sustainable Design and Planning
Description
Ecosystemics focuses its interest on evaluation and design tools to support a sustainable transition at the various intervention scales, starting from planning up to the selection of the most appropriate construction technologies.
Since 2005, the research group has developed several experiences in supporting municipal urban planning. The team has coordinated and drafted documentation for Strategic Environmental Assessments (SEAs), as well as defined environmental standards in building regulations. Ecosystemics also explores the themes of strategies and actions for mitigation and adaptation to climate change, as in the ongoing “Tools governance and teaching for the climate change adaptation strategy for sustainable development" call for proposals for “Research projects to support the implementation of the National Strategy for Sustainable Development”, funded by Italian Ministry of the Environment. Furthermore, the research team is involved in many Interreg Maritime IT-FR projects to support local economies, in different sectors, increasing their sustainability (environmental, economic and social) through technological and process innovation (e.g. ART LAB NET, ART LAB EXPER and SOFIA).\r
